About the role:

The Family Dispute Resolution Service (FDRS) is seeking an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner to undertake a key role in facilitating property conferences, providing supervision and professional development for FDRS staff, and undertaking policy and project activities.

This is a new role established to embed the property program at FDRS, as part of building our in-house mediation capacity to support our diverse client needs. In this role, you will apply your advanced mediation skills to support clients facing complex issues to make future-focused decisions and sensitively deliver child-focused culturally appropriate and effective services.

You will also provide professional support, skills-based education and mentoring to less experienced staff and others as well as delivering policy and project activities relevant to FDRS.

This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.

About you:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
  • Experience facilitating lawyer-assisted dispute resolution conferences in property matters, particularly with clients experiencing disadvantage.
  • Experience in managing family violence and other risks, with a sound understanding of child-focused and trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage clients from diverse backgrounds and effectively collaborate with a range of key stakeholders.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, with some policy or project management experience.
