ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Junaya Family Development Services (Junaya) is located in Blacktown and provides culturally responsive services to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander (Aboriginal) children, young people, and families. Services include case management, parenting, and youth programs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Part-time permanent opportunity (28 hours per week)

In this role you will have the opportunity to lead a supportive team and ensure effective assistance to Aboriginal families who are facing diverse life challenges. You'll have the opportunity to significantly impact on the overall culture of the organisation, and keep vulnerable children safe and connected to family and kin.

ABOUT YOU

  • It is genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
  • Minimum Diploma in Community Services AND 5-years’ experience working with children, young people or families
  • OR tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Social Work or Psychology AND 2-years experience working with children and families
  • Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership skills are necessary to motivate and guide team members, set goals, and foster a positive and productive team culture. The team leader must inspire trust and confidence among team members.
  • Strong communication skills: Clear and effective communication is essential for conveying information, instructions, and support both within the team and to the families they serve. This includes active listening as well as articulating ideas and concerns.
  • Organisational Skills: You will be able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and resources. Be well-organised and capable of efficiently allocating resources and coordinating activities to meet the needs of families and children.
