ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Junaya Family Development Services (Junaya) is located in Blacktown and provides culturally responsive services to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander (Aboriginal) children, young people, and families. Services include case management, parenting, and youth programs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role you’ll work closely with Aboriginal children, young people, and families in the Blacktown Local Government Area to keep children safe and families together.

The Aboriginal Family Worker works with our multi-disciplinary team to provide culturally informed child focused family casework and group programs for parents, young people, and kin in community, homes and schools.

ABOUT YOU

  • It is genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
  • Minimum Diploma in Community Services or tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Social Work or Psychology AND/OR 2-years’ experience working with children, young people or families.
  • You will demonstrate skills in culturally sensitive family support and have experience working with families in case management context.
  • You will have an understanding of systemic issues that can affect Aboriginal children’s safety and wellbeing.
  • You will are able to genuinely engage with children, family members and other professionals using a culturally safe approaches.
  • You will have good understanding of Microsoft products and demonstrate confidentiality in practice.
  • You will hold a current NSW driver’s licence and a Working with Children clearance number.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

  • $71,136 to $88,287 gross pa plus superannuation and leave loading of 17.5%
