About the team

The People & Culture Division encompasses three broad streams:

  • People Operations.
  • Corporate Services.
  • Quality, Safety & Risk.

People Operations is comprised of four key teams - People Strategy & Organisational Development, Workplace Relations, HR People Services and HR Business Partnering.

A number of HRBP's report to the Manager Human Resources Business Partnering, and act as the focal point for all people related matters for their assigned portfolio areas and will support these areas across all HR strategic, advisory and advocacy services.

About the role

headspace has identified an opportunity to elevate one of the HRBP positions to take on additional senior responsibilities across the HRBP team, to provide expert support/guidance in responding to employee relations matters and change management processes across the enterprise where needed, as well as undertake strategic projects.

The Senior HR Business Partner will be the primary contact for employees and managers within their portfolio areas for all employment related queries, with an important focus on talent acquisition and workforce planning as well as a point of escalation for the HRBP team for more complex matters across the organisation. The role will, in tandem with the Manager of HR Business Partnering, play a key role in the coaching and development of the HRBPs with regard to employee relations and change processes.

Having established trusted and influential relationships with managers and employees at all levels, a typical week as Senior HR Business Partner at headspace could include:

  • Working with a leader to translate business strategy into actionable HR plans.
  • Workforce planning, role design and determining the talent acquisition/recruitment strategy with a leader who has just been granted funding for a new program that needs to get off the ground quickly.
  • Supporting leaders through the full talent acquisition process within their particular client groups to ensure that the talent needs of their respective areas are identified and met, and an engaging candidate experience.
  • Working with a HRBP colleague on a complex employee relations complaint - taking a coaching approach to upskill the HRBP while also delivering a best practice dispute resolution process.
  • Leading an in-house investigation into a complex complaint across the enterprise.
  • Leading a collective change process with a business leader - providing expert strategic & operational advice into the process & building capability and toolkits.
  • Supporting client groups in the interpretation and adherence to the EA, industrial instruments, processes, procedures and best practise.
  • Using consulting skills to identify improvements & input into the redevelopment of HR policy and procedure to bring it in line with new legislative requirements, as well as incorporating contemporary HR best practice and the headspace tone of voice.

Who we're looking for

headspace is seeking an experienced and ambitious tertiary qualified HR professional who has a minimum of eight (8 - 10) years generalist HR experience as well as:

  • Demonstrated experience & skill in managing complex employee relations and performance management cases.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Agreements, employment law and contemporary HR practices.
  • Ability to lead and drive outcomes (strategic and operational) in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple tasks and be adaptive to change.
  • Strong consulting skills across the full range of HRBP capabilities.
  • Highly developed presentation and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to manage risk and difficult conversations independently.
  • A reputation as a trusted strategic HR advisor, problem solver and strategic business partner.
  • Strong alignment with the values of the organisation under the headspace Way.

The role will suit an experienced and ambitious HRBP keen to continue their professional journey and to work as 2IC to the Manager of HR Business Partnering and collaboratively with HRBP's & headspace leaders to grow capability & to lead, investigate, resolve issues & to hit the ground running.
