ABOUT THE GREENS NSW

The Greens Party movement is based on the four pillars of social equity and economic justice, ecological sustainability, grassroots democracy, and peace, nonviolence and disarmament. Greens parties across the world share these same principles and values.

In NSW we have 7 Members of Parliament, two Senators in the Federal Parliament, and 60 local government Councillors. We are comprised of 60 local groups across the state.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Digital Organiser will be responsible for implementing social media and digital advertising strategies for local government campaigns across NSW.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To work collaboratively as part of the Greens NSW Campaign Team and the wider Greens NSW staff team.
  • Create content for the campaign, both for local campaigns and for the Greens NSW.
  • Provide training and upskilling to facilitate local campaigns creating their own digital content.
  • Provide basic maintenance and management of the Greens NSW Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter accounts with regard to local government issues and broader political issues. This will include managing comments and interactions.
  • Provide training and upskilling for local campaigns on posting and managing comments on social media, as well as ensuring their social media posts meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a database of graphic templates for local campaigns to use and modify.
  • Maintain a record of original content created.
  • Provide monthly written reports which detail: Greens NSW social media activity, local campaign social media status, training of local digital coordinators, impact of digital media campaigning.
  • Other tasks as required.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Digital Campaigner must meet the following essential requirements:

  1. Excellent people skills, focusing on sharing skills and ideas with local Greens campaigners of all ages and backgrounds across NSW.
  2. Knowledge of and experience with social media and digital advertising platforms.
  3. Demonstrated experience implementing an election, social justice, environment, and/ or community social media campaign.
  4. Strong skills in design, digital content creation and production, including with software programs Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  5. Experience in producing social media (primarily Facebook and Instagram) content and developing social media strategies.
  6. Knowledge of political issues and ethics, and the ability to accurately apply Greens policy to social media comment.
  7. A commitment to The Greens and to advancing Greens policies and principles including an understanding of the Greens and support for the party’s principles, policies, and decision-making processes.
  8. Demonstrated ability to build effective interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively.
  9. Essential: A current Working with Children Check or a willingness to obtain one in the first month of employment

Desirable:

  1. Previous experience of political campaigns.
  2. Knowledge of local government issues.

Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

PAY AND CONDITIONS

  • Salary: $87,405.69 FTE p.a pro rata. + 12% superannuation, subject to CPI increase commencing July 1.
  • Primary Location: The Greens NSW Office in Camperdown.
  • Hours: Part time at 21 hours per week
  • Status: Part-time fixed term contract.
  • Position begins: June 2024
  • Covered by: The Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement.
