POSITION SUMMARY:
Better Climate is a key program within the CCWA that works to build support for climate action through strong and strategic partnerships and collaboration; the promotion of transition strategies; and targeted community organising.
The Better Climate Program Manager will lead CCWA’s Better Climate program. Working with the Executive Director and Campaign Director, you will devise and implement a powerful program of work to promote realistic and ambitious energy transition strategies with clear socio-economic and environmental benefits; develop strong and effective partnerships; and build support for climate action in WA.
KEY DETAILS:
Location: The position is based in West Perth, Western Australia.
Hours: Full-Time (part-time considered for the right candidate, minimum of 0.8 FTE)
Salary guide: $105,000 - 110,000 p/a + super, dependent on skills and experience
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain proactive relationships with external stakeholders and partners, including NGOs, unions, industry groups and policy experts.
- Be an effective advocate in public forums, news media, and social media.
- Oversee the development and promotion of realistic and ambitious energy transition strategies and solutions that provide clear socio-economic and environmental benefits.
- Lead the Better Climate team and participate in other CCWA programs and activities as required.
- Lead Better Climate’s advocacy work by engaging effectively with decision-makers to provide information and advice regarding energy transition strategies that have clear socio-economic and environmental benefits.
- Proactively identify and rapidly respond to strategic opportunities to further program objectives.
- Write high-quality, evidence-based and engaging briefs and work with CCWA media and communications manager to publish persuasive and timely content and media stories.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Solid understanding of principles and processes for incorporating both socio-economic and environmental factors into policy development
- Existing networks and experience working with unions, industry groups, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders
- The ability to manage and prioritise competing demands, responding thoughtfully to multiple stakeholders and prioritise work
- Experience building and leading an effective team
- Demonstrated track record of success in advocacy and project management
- Demonstrated success in developing strategic partnerships and relationships with a broad range of stakeholder groups
- Strong group work and facilitation skills
- Ability to work with volunteers and supporters to achieve program goals
