Bus Stop Films is an award winning, not for profit social enterprise that is female disability led. We educate, create, advocate and facilitate employment opportunities for people with disability across the screen and advertising industries.

We are in our 15th year and with our growing national team, we are seeking an experienced People and Culture Manager who is passionate in helping us to deliver on our inclusive culture and can manage moving between being strategic and implementation and supporting a national and dynamic workforce of both ongoing and casual staff.

This position is 4 days per week with one day in the office on Tuesdays in Carlton in Southern Sydney. All other times we work remotely and have a very flexible work policy.

The role reports into the Chief Operating Officer and has no direct reports.

Core Responsibilities:

Training and development

  • Building out a professional development plan for our national team including our executive team.
  • Set up the framework for onboarding new employees and arrange the appropriate training.
  • Manage grievances and lead workplace investigations in a fair, timely and efficient manner consistent with employment legislation.

  • Provide expert-level advice to the Senior Leadership Team on HR best practices.

Recruitment

  • Manage recruitment advertisement and candidate selection for approved hires.

  • Build out processes for recruitment requests.

  • Manage recruitment budget in terms of expenditure for ads.

  • Work with the Heads of Departments and Managers to ensure we effectively recruit the correct staff.

  • Manage all contracts for new employees and subcontractors along with the onboarding process.

  • Complete reference checks for all new employees.

  • Ensure that all employees have the appropriate checks in place related to their role.

  • Ensure our workforce is diverse, engaged and empowered.

Policy

  • Review current policies and identify any gaps.

  • Manage a register of staff compliance with key checks eg Working with Children, Working with Vulnerable People and First Aid.

  • Ensure BSF remains compliant with all state based child protection and disability staffing policies.

  • Build new policies that support employees and participants aligned to work health and safety frameworks and both legal and ethical requirements.

  • Remain up to date with employment legislation and IR/HR industry trends.

  • Liaise with CFO on payroll management and salary packaging for NFP staff.

  • Train and implement new policies with key people in the organisation.

Strategy and Leadership

  • Manage health and well being programs for staff eg access to Employee Assistance Program, Flu Vax reimbursement etc.

  • High level analysis of key people data and trends in support of strategic priorities, advising an appropriate course of action as required.

  • Design and lead initiatives including research and diagnostics (e.g. annual employee engagement survey and exit interviews), to maximise the engagement of all employees and build organisational commitment to the desired culture.

  • Create a leadership development framework to maximise leadership capability and embed a coaching culture in support of delivering on strategy outcomes.

  • Design, construct and implement Strategy to align Humans Resource policies, practices and programs.

  • Staff communications around any organisational changes and change management.

  • Set up and management of a staff database for training and personal details.

  • Provide reporting on professional development and progress to COO.

  • Develop and execute a People and Culture Strategy for Bus Stop Films.
